Disease prevention is a key factor to public health. It is better to prevent a disease than to treat one. Vaccines prevent diseases in people who receive them and protect the people who come in contact with unvaccinated people. Vaccines prevent infectious disease and save many lives. Vaccines are responsible for the control of diseases that were once common in this country, such as polio, measles, diphtheria, whooping cough, rubella, mumps, tetanus and HIB. Vaccines work to protect infants, children, and adults from illnesses and death that are sometimes caused by infectious diseases. Make sure you and your children are vaccinated.
