A New High-Definition Magnetic Resonance System (MRI)

WINNSBORO, LOUISIANA (July 1, 2011) –

Franklin Medical Center has incorporated one the most advanced diagnostic tools for helping physicians reach confident diagnoses to provide the best patient care. The new Signa LX 1.5T MR system from GE Healthcare delivers highly detailed images of the human body with increased speed, better resolution and unique applications. According to Amber Cummins Radiology Director, Franklin Medical Center, this advanced technology provides shorter exams and greater comfort for patients, while providing higher diagnostic confidence for doctors.

“The addition of the Signa LX 1.5T MR system complements and extends the range of quality diagnostic services that Franklin Medical Center offers residents of our community, Amber Cummins says. “It provides us with vastly improved image quality and imaging speed, and enhances the overall diagnostic confidence we have in all of our studies.”

MR exams are used when people are ill or injured, or when a physician suspects a medical problem that is not easily detectable from a conventional physical examination. The GE Signa LX 1.5T MR system non-invasively assists physicians in the diagnosis of a variety of anatomical areas, such as the head, abdomen and chest, including detailed imaging of the vascular system and major organs.

This is the first full-time MRI service that Franklin Medical Center has ever offered. This is an exceptional service for our community and this level of technology is not found in most rural hospitals in this area.
