Dr. Floyda Jan Hicks

Dr. Floyda Jan Hicks was appointed to the Franklin Medical Center Board of Commissioners in August of 2007.

She has dedicated her life to education and has taught in the Franklin Parish School System where she was named Louisiana High School Teacher of the Year during her tenure. She has also served in administrative capacities at Northeast Louisiana University (ULM at Monroe) and the LSU AgCenter where she is Professor Emeritus in the School of Human Ecology.

She received her bachelor and masters degrees at NLU (ULM) and her doctorate degree at Grambling State University.

Dr. Hicks is an ordained minister who owns and manages Eternal Joys Unlimited, LLC. She is a hospice chaplain and Christian counselor who also enjoys teaching educational workshops related to Christian Education and Family and Consumer Sciences.

Dr. Hicks is a community servant and is president of the Louisiana Technical College (Northeast Campus) Foundation. Jan is a former president of the Franklin Parish American Heart Association and Mental Health Association.

She has enjoyed previous membership on the Winnsboro-Franklin Chamber of Commerce board and the Princess Theatre board.

She is the mother of two sons; Chauncey, who is an anesthesiologist and David, a teacher.
