JOB SUMMARY:

Assess and evaluate individuals’ problems through the use of case history, interview, and observation and provide individual or group counseling services to assist individuals in achieving more effective personal, social, educational, and vocational development and adjustment.

 

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

Responsible to:            Director of Behavioral Health Clinic

Positions Directly Supervised:            Mid-Level Practitioners and Nursing

Regular Contact with: All Rural Health personnel, nursing, and the public.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Collect patient information using interviews, case histories, observational techniques, and other assessment methods.
  2. Documenting patient information including session notes, progress notes, recommendations, and treatment plans.
  3. Develop therapeutic and treatment plans based on the patient’s interests, abilities, and/or needs.
  4. Monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic intervention in the office and hospital setting.
  5. Analyze data, such as interview notes, test results, or reference manuals to identify symptoms or to diagnose the nature of a patient’s problems.
  6. Consults with patient’s Primary Care Provider for all medical issues out of scope of practice.
  7. Arrange for, or refer patients to, needed services that cannot be provided at the Clinic.
  8. Works with all Clinic staff to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, staff and visitors
  9. Is accountable and responsible for self directed actions.
  10. Maintains confidentiality of patients, families, and fellow employees.
  11. Assure that adequate patient health records are maintained and transferred as required when patients are referred.
  12. All other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Training:      Master’s degree in clinical psychology. Must be CPR certified

 

Work Experience:     Experience desirable but not required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Must be capable of adapting to a changing environment.  Must be able to work independently as well as function as a team member.  Must be able to handle a high-stress environment.  Must show good reasoning ability.  Demonstrates good judgment.

 

Physical Requirements:        Physically demanding may require lifting and transferring patients and equipment.  Must be able to withstand 8 hours or more of standing walking, stooping, bending, and sitting.  Manual dexterity, good eye coordination and adequate vision is required in daily work.  Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with patients. Must be able to handle a fast-paced demanding environment.
