POSITION:                           STOCK CLERK

DEPARTMENT:                   PURCHASING

 FLSA STATUS:                   NON-EXEMPT

SCHEDULE:                        MONDAY-FRIDAY, 8:00AM-4:30PM



Is responsible for assisting in the receiving and storing of supplies and equipment for each hospital department under the direction and supervision of the Director of Purchasing


Responsible to:            Purchasing Director

Positions Directly Supervised:            None

Regular Contact with:             All hospital departments and vendors.

  1. Meets with Director of Purchasing concerning policies and procedures, supplies and equipment, problems and needs.
  2. Keeps supervisor informed of department activities, work related problems and needs.
  3. Complies with established policies and procedures of the hospital and the department.
  4. Receives supply requisitions from hospital departments and fills them.
  5. Restocks new orders in storeroom or delivers them directly to ordering department.
  6. Checks stock for outdating or deterioration regularly and remove products no longer usable.
  7. Arranges items so that new supplies are placed behind older supplies.
  8. Answers telephone, runs errands and performs miscellaneous duties.
  9. Performs other duties as directed by supervisor.


Education and Training:      High school graduate with advanced training on job or special courses.

Work Experience:     On-the-job training.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Knowledge of hospital products and inventory control.  Ability to deal with hospital personnel and salesmen.

Physical Requirements:        Visual acuity and hearing acuity.  Manual dexterity and Mental dexterity.  Oral communication.  Standing or sitting for prolonged periods.  Repeated bending and stooping.  Manipulating heavy equipment and supplies.

OSHA EXPOSURE CATEGORY:   B      Has some exposure to blood borne pathogens.
