Role and Responsibilities (Duties include, but are not limited to the following)
· Responsible for mixing chemotherapy.
· Responsible for administering chemotherapy treatments to patients and ensuring their comfort during the chemo process.
· Works directly with the Master’s in Nursing to ensure accurate chemo calculations and patient information.
· Nurses administer chemotherapy, implement new methods of symptom treatment and monitors patients’ progress. Oncology nurses must be prepared to work with patients who have been diagnosed with life-threatening conditions.
· The occupation requires emotional stability to help patients and their families work through the treatment process and cope with death if treatment fails.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Certified RN in Louisiana
· Bachelor’s in Nursing
· Minimum 3 years of experience in Oncology.
Preferred Skills & Experience
At least one year of experience required, oncology a plus.
· Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and patients in-person, over the phone, or via email.
· Advanced computer skills. Knowledge of computer systems and pharmacy applications (Mckesson, Asembia, Cardinal, OncoEMR, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc)
· General understanding of billing and coding as related to coinsurance, copays, and collectibles.
· Overall knowledge and basic understanding of clinical operations a plus
· Ability to collect, organize, report on and maintain data, as well as establish and maintain records
· Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type from draft copy, review and edit reports, and correspondence.
