- Assisting surgeon during surgical cases. Prepares surgery suite for surgical procedure. Assist in the decontamination and sterilization process of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Understands rules, regulations of Franklin Medical Center. Maintains good working relationships. Complies with established policies and procedures. Cooperates with all departments to achieve goals. Keeps all information confidential. Maintains patient privacy. Acts in a professional manner. Follows dress code.
- Maintains a good attendance record and current health record. Always notifies Nursing Service if ill or cannot come in. Knows repeated absenteeism is reason for dismissal. Gets x-ray and lab work done on anniversary hire date.
- Keeps up-to-date in field of Nursing. Attends in-service (includes fire and safety), monthly staff meetings, seminars when possible. CPR update. Current licensure.
- Transports patient to surgery. Sees that documentation of pre-operative care is complete and accurate. Supervises patient safe transport to surgery. Communicates with surgery pertinent information.
- Discharge outpatient. Re-enforce discharge instructions and appointments. Answers questions. Supervises safe transport to vehicle.
- Maintains equipment. Checks equipment for malfunctions and reports to supervisor. Performs cleaning duties as necessary.
- Completes assignments. Plans work in order to get through with work at the designated time. Assembles equipment and works at a steady pace.
- Performs other nursing related duties. Rotates to other areas as need arises. Does other related duties when asked by a supervisor.
- Assist in other areas when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training: Graduate of a course for LPN. Licensed. CPR update.
Work Experience: Experience in Surgery/Operating Room required. Scrub experience preferred. Minimum 2 years Nursing experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: IV Therapy course desirable. Knowledge of surgical instruments desirable.
Physical Requirements: Lifting weights over 25 lbs. e.g. Lifting and
moving or helping lift patients of awkward weights, moving and carrying
equipment. Repeated bending, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling
movements. Medium to high level of stress. Frequent interruptions. Visual
and hearing acuity as well as cognitive function to make observations and
communicate these to other staff.
