Dr. J. H. Fairbanks completed his undergraduate work at Rhodes College, Memphis, TN (BS Biology-1979). He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA, (1983). Following a flexible internship at Charity Hospital, New Orleans and a surgical internship at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine he completed his residency in Orthopedics at Tulane University School of Medicine (1990). Dr. Fairbanks authored a publication in 1991 entitled Seminars in Spine Surgery: Instability in the Appendicular Skeleton, as well as a textbook chapter (2000) in Orthopedic Sports Medicine entitled “Labral Tears in Throwing Sports”.
Before entering private practice in Natchez, MS in 1998, he practiced with Orthopedic Associates of Abilene, TX from 1991-97. During this time, he was Musculoskeletal Chairman and Pharmacy and Therapeutics Chairman at the Hendrick Medical Center of Abilene. He also served on Hendrick’s Professional Activities and CQI Committees. In 2000 he was Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham.
Dr. Fairbanks provides a clinic for our community at the Franklin Medical Center campus monthly.
