Dr. Scott Zentner, MD is a native of Monroe, LA. Following graduation from Neville High School, he completed his undergraduate training from the college of engineering at Texas A&M University. After working for a year in the oil and gas industry, he opted for a career change and began pre-medicine studies at Northeast Louisiana University, where he matriculated for 16 months until acceptance into medical school at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.
After graduation in 1987, he also completed his internship at LSU in 1988, and then residency training in psychiatry at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 1991. In addition, he participated in a cross-cultural fellowship program at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Zentner became board certified in general psychiatry in 1993. His honors have included the Sandoz Award for Outstanding Service in Psychiatry, as well as the Dr. John W. Bick Award.
Returning to his hometown in 1992, he has been employed primarily as a medical director and staff psychiatrist with the Louisiana Office of Behavioral Health in Region VIII, eventually retiring from state service in 2012. Dr. Zentner is also a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at LSU Health Sciences Center, serving as preceptor and supervisor of both psychiatry and family practice residents at the Shreveport and Monroe campuses. He has been employed as a staff psychiatrist at Franklin Medical Center’s IOP and clinic mental health programs since 2007. Dr. Zentner is an active member of both the Louisiana State Medical Society and Ouachita Medical Society.
He embraces a holistic approach in the evaluation and treatment of his patients, encouraging physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellness throughout the life cycle.
Dr. Zentner is married and the father of 2 children, Mac and Margaret Ann.
