Virginia Y. Gonzalez, M.D. earned her B.S. at Liceo Agustin Codazzin In Maracay Venezuela. She then went on to the University Of Carabobo School Of Medicine in Maracay, Venezuela where she received her Medical Degree. Additionally, she attended Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland, where she obtained her Master’s Degree. Dr. Gonzalez completed her internship at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She also completed her Internal Medicine in Pittsburgh. She did advance training by way of a Fellowship in Hypertension from the University of Pittsburgh. She went on to complete another fellowship in Cardiology at the Pittsburgh Heart Institute at Shadyside Hospital and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Gonzalez’s specialty is Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Echocardiography and General Cardiology and Cardiac CT. Dr. Gonzalez is a fellow with SCAI.
Dr. Gonzalez located to Northeast Louisiana in 1999. She re-opened the Interventional Program at St. Francis Medical Center. In 2001, Glenwood Medical Center saw the need for an additional Interventional Program. Dr. Gonzalez started this program. Therefore, both sides of the Ouachita River could be served. She participated in the development of Northeast Louisiana’s first accredited Chest Pain Center at Glenwood Regional Medical Center.
In 2014, Dr. Gonzalez saw the need to expand her services to outlying areas. After much consideration and the partnership with Franklin Medical Center and local primary care physicians/nurse practitioners, Dr. Gonzalez opened Cardiovascular Diagnostic Center in Winnsboro to serve the needs of those individuals struggling with heart disease.
Community Services:
To educate and make aware the seriousness of Heart Disease, Dr. Gonzalez publishes an educational series in the Monroe Newstar entitled, “Heart Talk”. Her commitment to the Northeast area is to provide optimum healthcare services and educating the patient on the Number one killer, heart disease.
Dr. Gonzalez provides a clinic for our community at the Franklin Medical Center campus every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
