Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, accounting for almost half of all diagnoses in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society, with some 3.5 million new cases diagnosed each year; many more people go through biopsies that prove negative. The VivaScope imaging system is a non-invasive procedure designed to diagnose potentially malignant skin lesions. The system captures highly magnified images of the upper layer of the skin, and are designed for use in conjunction with a Dermatologist to investigate potentially malignant skin lesions, thus providing a more accurate diagnosis, leading to fewer biopsies of benign lesions and earlier detection of skin cancers.
